Macon represented the Ying lab at the American Chemical Society's national Fall meeting in San Diego. The Geochemistry Devision of the ACS had a strong showing, with E. Elzinga presiding over the main session. Lots of great talks, with a strong showing by Fe. Next year it'll be Mn!

Summer Bridge to Research Student, Roxy, summarizes her summer research project at RISE symposium8/29/2019 Our newest member of the lab, transfer student, Roxana Ramirez, presented her research poster titled "Redox and Reaction Rates of Vanadium Oxidation by Manganese Oxides" at the Summer Bridge to Research Symposium. Over a ten week period, Roxy worked with each of the grad students and was mentored by Macon for her summer experiment. She did an outstanding job and we are excited to have her continue with the lab as she starts at UCR this fall!
Our very own Danielle was one of only 17 people in the nation to receive the 2019 Foundation Research fellowship. Way to go Danielle!

The workshop was an opportunity for biogeochemistry students from a variety of countries to meet one another and some of the leading faculty from across the various disciplines of the field. They spent time getting hands-on introductions into new (bio)geochemical skillsets by some of the leading experts to better our research capabilities and that of our home lab. The trip wouldn't have been complete without beer and experiencing the schwäbisch culture and brats! |
